WE LOVE TO DANCE!

We recently discussed what are mission statement would look like.  It would
simply state that
our mission is to introduce the fun (and
health benefits) of dancing to as many people as we
can
.

We got started because . . .

The Midland Elks Club was interested in providing an enjoyable activity for its
members; we were looking for a way to share our passion for dance with a
greater number of people.  After a few discussions, the Elks agreed to expand
the dance floor; we agreed to put on dances and provide dance classes.  And
that’s how we started this joint venture: Fun And Fitness Dance at the Midland
Elks.

John has been heavily involved in dance since 1997.  From 2002 through 2006
he served the local dance community as president of the local chapter of USA
Dance.  He holds a Masters Degree in Curriculum Development and
Supervision.  He has been employed in the field of education for 34 years.
Fourteen of those years were spent in the classroom teaching in public
schools.  Twenty were at a Community College where he worked in a variety of
areas, including computer support, teaching, library management, and
schedule development.

He has taken lessons from national competitors and certified dance
instructors.  He has participated in several local dance exhibitions,
choreographing most of his routines.  He has been a teacher’s helper for
several years with a local dancer instructor.  He has combined his knowledge of
how to help people learn with his insights on how to dance to help establish the
Fun And Fitness School of Dance.

Cheryl has been a student of dance since she was 6 years old.  She has
received training in tap, ballet, jazz, and ballroom, including 2 years at a Fred
Astaire studio.  During her Fred Astaire days, she placed second in the Novice
Pro/Am division of a State Fred Astaire competition.  She has danced numerous
times in exhibition.  Since 2002, she has provided DJ services for local dances.
